Family photos and genealogical assets for the family of Joyce and George Aigen. Includes interviews with George Aigen. George Aigen served in World War II between 1944-1946. (Company B, 1269th Combat Engineer Battalion, 6th Army Group; 44th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade) He participated in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, April 29, 1945. The personal narratives of George Aigen are part of the Veteran's History Project (AFCX/2001/001/95454) at the Library of Congress.

Lieutenant Andrew McConnell Civil War Diary

The diary was written in pocket-sized editions and each was sent home after it was completed. The collection in the Valdosta State Archives has two folders, each containing an identical copy of the McConnell diary. The diary is divided into five volumes, the last of which was written by John Albert Feaster Coleman after McConnell died. The William W. Knight Civil War Letters Collection consists of correspondence authored by William Washington Knight during his service in the Civil War. The letters are addressed to his wife and father, and provide personal insights into his experiences on the battlefield. The collection includes copies of the original letters, dating from 1861 to 1863, and contains 36 handwritten letters.
